The Iowa League for Nursing was honored on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the NLN's Education Summit at the Marriot/Convention Center in Anaheim, California for outstanding performance and outstanding results that contribute to the NLNÂ’s mission to promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce, at the local level through innovative and effective membership recruitment.

Iowa RN to BSN Task Force Update
On Wednesday September 12, 2012 the RN to BSN Task Force Proposal for Rule Change was submitted to the IBON by Mary Tarbox. Ordinarily, a committee would be appointed to review the proposal and come back with a recommendation to the IBON. However, because there is opposition/controversy associated with the proposal, Executive Order 80 comes in to play. This means that the proposal must first be published in the Iowa Administrative Rules Bulletin and on the IBON and state of IA website. This will take the next 3 weeks. After that time, the review committee members can be appointed by conference call. Lorinda Inman (IBON) stated in the meeting that she would not expect any recommendation back to the IBON from this committee before late February or early March.
